Huge Demand for the iPhone 15 Pro Leads to Up to 8-Week Global Shipping Delays
On September 15, Apple began taking pre-orders for the iPhone 15 Series, and the response from Apple fans around the world has been overwhelmingly positive. The new iPhones’ severe shipment delays are the result of this spike in demand. The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are currently experiencing delivery delays of up to 8 weeks, according to some consumers.
The iPhone 15 Series has received a warm welcome from Apple’s customer base and is set to begin arriving on September 22. Apple has had to postpone shipments of the iPhone 15 Pro for up to two months because demand has exceeded estimates. Customers who placed pre-orders for the iPhone 15 Pro from all around the world are currently dealing with delivery delays of six to eight weeks.
Worldwide Order Delays for the iPhone 15 Pro
It’s amazing how quickly pre-orders for the iPhone 15 Series have surpassed Apple’s expectations. The demand for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max has exceeded Apple’s expectations in just one day since pre-orders opened.
Millions of Apple customers have reported delays in the delivery of their iPhone 15 Pro purchases, according to a deluge of online reports. Delivery dates for those who pre-ordered the Pro models are now being extended until November.
Orders for the iPhone 15 Pro Max are experiencing delays of up to 8 weeks in nations including India, China, the UK, and Canada, according to renowned tech journalist Mark Gurman. Both home deliveries and in-store pickups of the new iPhones are affected by these delays.
Even ordinary iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus orders are experiencing delays of up to two weeks in some areas. It is clear that Apple’s improvements to the iPhone 15 Series have struck a chord with a sizable number of customers, and this desire extends to the more expensive iPhone 15 Pro, which has experienced significant demand despite being 60% more expensive in India.
Production Issues with the iPhone 15 Pro
For the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, Apple has adopted a titanium frame. Anodizing titanium poses considerable manufacturing issues and necessitates a very regulated environment.
Delivery times growing for 15 Pro Max:
– 8 week delays in India
– 6-7 week delays in China
– 7-8 week delays in the UK
– 6-7 week delays in Canada https://t.co/dkMRpp6Wtw— Mark Gurman (@markgurman) September 15, 2023
Apple now only sources the Pro models from China, according to Counterpoint Research, leaving it without any other options to increase manufacturing of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone Pro Max. In contrast, Apple has manufacturing facilities for its standard iPhone models in Vietnam and India, allowing for additional production in times of high demand.
The chip of the iPhone 15 Pro presents another manufacturing challenge. With a cutting-edge 3nm architecture, the A17 Pro processor in the iPhone 15 Pro is produced exclusively by TSMC for Apple. However, TSMC’s yield for producing 3nm processors is only 55% because of the intricacy involved.
Apple cannot increase A17 Pro manufacturing since it has reserved all of TSMC’s 3nm production slots through December 2023. As a result, it is anticipated that orders for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will experience shipping delays for a while.
