Arunachal Pradesh Athletes Secure 5 Gold and 4 Bronze Medals at Taekwondo Championships
In a heartwarming development, athletes from Arunachal Pradesh achieved a remarkable feat, clinching 5 gold and 4 bronze medals at the Taekwondo Championships. This news has been generating significant interest as the Arunachal Pradesh Taekwondo team left an indelible mark at the 39th National Senior Kyorugi and 12th National Senior Poomsae Taekwondo Championship.
The prestigious event, which witnessed participation from over 1,300 competitors, unfolded in Guwahati, Assam, spanning from September 9 to 11. It was a fierce contest featuring 31 Arunachal athletes who demonstrated their mettle against opponents from all corners of India, ultimately emerging victorious in various categories.
The gold medals in both individual and pair categories were secured by outstanding athletes including Rikpy Nyodu, Miching Taja, Ontey Khamblai, Khamblai, Kame Bayang, Likha Govind, Khinsan Wangsu, Achum Sangha, Lumter Uli, and Gangpgung Gangsa. Additional triumphs came from Miching Taja, Muskan Manyu, Radha Bangsia, OntGangphung Gangsa, Mari Karbak, Likha Govind, and Tadar Kukug.
Leading the Arunachal contingent were Likha Robin, the General Secretary of the Arunachal Taekwondo Association, along with coaches Suraj Ali, Kayang Darang, Yabi Pudu, and Ranjit Biswakarma. The unwavering support and teamwork of Cristine Borang and Jina Yangfo played a pivotal role in the team’s success.
In recognition of their outstanding contributions, Biswakarma was honored as the Best Poomsae Coach, while Miching Taja and Rikpy Nyodu received accolades as the Best Poomsae Players in the individual category.
