Highlights

  • Realme is poised to transform the optics of mid-range smartphones.
  • Mid-range and upcoming flagship models will have periscope telephoto lenses.
  • By the end of 2023, both smartphones are anticipated to be released in China.

Realme has been teasing the inclusion of a periscope lens in its upcoming flagship smartphone in subtle ways. According to rumors, the Realme GT 5 Pro will soon hit the market with this cutting-edge lens. Realme is expanding its periscope lens technology to a mid-range smartphone, which is expected to make its debut as the Realme 12 Pro+, according to renowned tipster Digital Chat Station.

A respectable successor to the Realme GT 5 that was previously released in China is anticipated in the upcoming Realme GT 5 Pro. The Realme GT 5 will be the first mass-produced smartphone in the world to provide 240W fast charging, creating a new standard in the field. After launching the Realme 10 Pro and 10 Pro+ series in China in November 2022, Realme expects to showcase this outstanding product at the end of the fourth quarter of 2023.

Most likely, the new 23163 series will make its Chinese premiere around the same time. According to Digital Chat Station, the Realme 12 Pro+ will have a camera module similar to the one found in the March 2023-released OPPO Find X6. The triple camera system on this mid-range Realme gadget will include a periscope lens.

According to the tipster, the Realme 12 Pro+ will have a fascinating appearance and powerful characteristics that are meant to appeal to a wide audience. Although the exact name of this future mid-range Realme smartphone has not been made public, the hints that have been given, such as the brand’s recognizable cat emblem and the suggestion that it is a smartphone in a number series, clearly suggest its identity.

Recall that the 6.74-inch AMOLED display on the stock OPPO Find X6, which debuted in March 2023, has a resolution of 1240 x 2772 pixels. With a refresh rate of 120Hz, a maximum brightness of 1450 nits, HDR10+ certification, and compatibility for 1 billion colors, this display is impressive. The MediaTek Dimensity 9200 SoC, developed on a 4nm technology, powers the MediaTek Find X6’s internal components.

One Cortex-X3 core running at 3.05GHz, three Cortex-A715 cores running at 2.85GHz, four Cortex-A510 cores running at 1.8GHz, and an Immortalis-G715 MC11 GPU are all part of the chipset. It is coupled with 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage and up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM. The smartphone comes pre-installed with Funtouch OS 13, which is based on Android 13. The gadget has an eye-catching circular camera island that houses a triple camera system.

A secondary 50MP periscope lens with OIS, 2.8x optical zoom, and f/2.6 aperture is used in addition to the core 50MP Sony IMX 890 sensor, which has an aperture of f/1.8, OIS, and PDAF. The sensor size of the primary and periscope lenses is 1/1.56 inches. A 50MP tertiary ultra-wide-angle lens with PDAF and an f/2.0 aperture completes the set.

The OPPO Find X6 has a centered punch-hole display and a 32MP front camera with an f/2.4 aperture for taking selfies. The smartphone has a 4800mAh battery that supports cable rapid charging at 80W. It comes in the colors Black, Green, and Gold and has IP54 splash protection to protect against unintentional rainfall.
